Federal Jury Awards $1 Million To Man Who Was Detained By Police And Denied Medical Care After Motor Vehicle Accident
The Chicago Tribune reports the a federal jury on Tuesday awarded more than $1 million to the family of a Michigan truck driver who crashed his semitrailer into the Chinatown Red Line station in 2008, killing two people and injuring many others before he also died more than a month later. Relatives of Donald Wells argued in a lawsuit that Wells was detained by Chicago police even though he needed medical attention from injuries he sustained in the crash.
